POLICE are appealing for help in capturing a raider who targeted a Llandudno sports store and made off with takings.

The attack took place in JJB Sports, Mostyn Champneys retail park, on the afternoon of Sunday, December 16.

The theft took place after a man hid himself inside the store and confronted two staff members after the last customer had left at about 4.45pm.

The man is 5ft 11 and is described as being of slim build.

He wore a black beanie hat, a black woollen scarf covering his mouth and nose, a black waist-length jacket, black trousers and black trainers.

The 27-year-old store manager sustained slight injuries and his 21-year-old female colleague was unhurt, but investigating officer DC Louise Bunce said both had been "shaken" by the incident.

DC Bunce added: “At this stage we understand the lone male offender may have left the rear of the store sometime before 6pm and so I am appealing to anyone who was in Clarence Crescent area, which is the link road between Conwy Road and the Promenade, and may have seen the below described person or any suspicious vehicle or behaviour to contact Police on 101.

"I am also keen to hear from anyone who was using the store yesterday afternoon and again either saw this person, or anything suspicious, to phone Police.”

Anyone who has any information can contact Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
