JOBS at Prestatyn’s Phones 4U store have been saved after it was bought by mobile phone company Vodafone.

The Parc Prestatyn site was one of 140 stores that were bought by the firm after Phones 4U announced it was closing 362 branches after it went into administration last week, saving 887 jobs.

The Rhyl store will be one of the casualties after it was not bought out by either Vodafone or network operator EE, who have purchased 58 stores nationwide.

Other stores to close include shops at Colwyn Bay, Llandudno high street, Wrexham, Bangor and Caernarfon.

Rob Hunt, joint administrator and PwC partner, said: “It is with much regret that we have today made the difficult decision to close a large number of stores.

”It is a very sad day for the staff working at those locations and our thoughts are with them.

“We will make every effort to help the affected staff, working with the Phones 4u HR team over the coming days to support employees."

In addition, Dixon Carphone previously stated that it will take on around 800 staff who previously worked at the 160 Phones4U sites within Currys/PC World stores throughout the country, which includes staff working at the Mostyn Champneys retail park store in Llandudno.
