A young man from North Wales has today (Thurs) denied a series of robberies at shops in Denbighshire and Conwy.
Defendant Alex Coxon, 20, of Rhys Avenue, in Kinmel Bay, will go on trial in October.
He was remanded in custody in the meantime by Judge Rhys Rowlands, sitting at Mold Crown Court.
Coxon is charged with robbery at The Bargain Booze store in Vale Road, Rhyl, on November 13; a robbery at The Premier Stores in Henllan Street in Denbigh on November 19 when it is alleged that he had a machete, and an attempted robbery at the Apex convenience store in Kinmel Bay on March 9.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges and the trial was fixed for October 3.
The judge agreed to extend the custody time limits for that date so that the defendant could be represented by his barrister of choice, Simon Killeen.
Mr Killeen said that it was a definite trial but said that civilian witnesses who were robbed by someone would not need to attend.
But the defence would require the police officers involved in the investigation.
The trial is expected to last some four days.
