Visitors to Conwy castle will step back in time this summer, thanks to Legends Live! — a brand new programme of free events created to bring the characters, stories and magic of Welsh history to life.
The project will see historic environment service Cadw team up with Past Pleasures — behind interpretation at world-class sites such as the Tower of London and Warwick Castle to bring Legends Live! to Conwy castle on July 29 and 30.
The interactive events will allow visitors to experience Welsh history first-hand, with the opportunity to meet real historic characters and experience everything from a Victorian ball to an elegant Tudor wine-tasting and even a medieval wedding celebration.
This approach to interpretation is a first for Cadw and will be used as a pilot to inform future events at its collection of 128 historic monuments across Wales.
Ken Skates, Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure, said: “Legends Live! is a travelling programme designed to tell the fascinating stories behind Wales’ historic sites.
“The project is part of Cadw’s Live the Legends summer campaign, which focuses on bringing Wales’ legendary past to life during Visit Wales’ 2017 Year of Legends.”
Visitors to Conwy Castle on Saturday, 29 July and Sunday, 30 July, will join forces with the Tudur brothers in a bloody quest to capture the castle. The event features live action performances set in 1401.
