THE Labour Party has selected Emily Owen, aged 23, as its candidate for Aberconwy constituency at the next general election.

At Llandudno Junction Labour Club on Saturday, a packed meeting, with more than 100 members present, voted to choose Ms Owen.

Ms Owen lost the seat to Conservative candidate Guto Bebb at the last election, but cut the majority from nearly four thousand to 635.

Speaking after her selection, she said: “I’m honoured to have been selected once again as Labour’s Parliamentary candidate. I am ready to fight for the Aberconwy seat whenever the next election is called”.

Ms Owen is a former Conwy county councillor and a school governor in Llandudno, and is in the final year of a degree course at Bangor University. She originally comes from Greater Manchester,.

She said: “I’ll want to promote a positive vision for our area - a vision based on fairness, equality of opportunity, delivering for the many not the few - where we invest in our education and homes”.
