NEWLY released figures show that more than 7000 people enjoyed last year's Theatr Colwyn pantomime - Beauty and the Beast.

A report entitled Theatr Colwyn Pantomime report, to be presented to the Theatr Colwyn Joint Management Committee, is to be discussed on Tuesday, February 20.

Figures revealed that the pantomime, by Magic Light Productions, was attended by 7339 people and ran over 24 days. In 2016, the production company presented Jack and The Beanstalk over 21 days, which was attended by 6439 people.

As of January 31, 255 people had already purchased tickets to see this year's performance - Dick Whittington and His Cat.

The report states: "The 2017 Pantomime, Beauty and the Beast featured five local performers and a few more with North Wales connections.

"In 2016/17 We presented Jack & The Beanstalk which consisted of 21 performances in total, as these were near sell out shows we decided to

increase the performances this year to 24 which meant an additional 900 seats to sell.

"In 2017/2018, an increase of exactly 900 seats was achieved and an additional three performance were presented."
