Snowdonia Nurseries and Garden Centre in Glan Conwy has applied for a licence to sell alcohol in its coffee shop.

The business claims to be more than just a garden centre has become a day trip destination in its own right, and has ambitions to develop further.

Catherine Goodson, general manager of Snowdonia Nurseries, said: “At the end of October we had a complete overhaul of the Olive Tree, our coffee shop To be able to add wines to the menu will complement the work we’ve undertaken.

The coffee shop was completely refurbished, we installed a new kitchen, brought in more staff, including a head chef and offer a wider menu than before.

“Now we want to take our development a little extra step forward by selling alcohol. We want to add something to meals, something like a prosecco with afternoon tea, that sort of thing, that’s what the licence is for. We want to enhance our menu, particularly the specials we offer.

“We are not usually open in the evenings, except for events or corporate bookings, so the licence is just for daytimes.

“If we want to serve alcohol for a special evening event we can get a special licence for that.”
