An appeal has been launched by St David’s Hospice for volunteers to man the tea bar at Llandudno Magistrates' Court.

The charity runs the tea bar, and all proceeds from sales of teas, coffees, biscuits, toast and home baking are donated to the hospice.

The tea bar is open from 9am until 12 noon, five days a week.

The most recent donation of £5000 raised in 2017 brought the total raised since it started to £55,000.

St David’s Hospice delivers specialist care free of charge to adult patients with advanced illnesses, or those in need of end of life care and their families.

Breda Johnson, from Llandudno has been a volunteer for more than 15 years, said: “I joined the team after a friend from church suggested it. I love being able to give something back to St David’s Hospice, after my husband passed away I become very down and depressed. Volunteering at the tea bar has helped me a lot, it keeps me active and I have made some lovely friendships”.

The tea bar is entirely staffed by volunteers, and most work one morning a week or a fortnight but volunteers are free to work more frequently, or less frequently, depending on the time they have available. Ideally the cafe is staffed with a minimum of two volunteers per session.

Potential volunteers should contact Hospice Administrator Janet Magill on 01492 879058.
