Two Conwy mothers are to run in the London Marathon to raise money for Scope, a charity for disabled people.

Victoria Harvey, aged 45, who is a qualified fitness instructor, said she has an eight year son, William, who attends Ysgol Gogarth special school in Llandudno, she stated: "I will be running with a friend, Emma Richardson, who also has a son, Alfie aged seven, at the same school.

"I ran in the Conwy half marathon with Emma, and that was the first time she had run competitively. In fact she only started running last May and she incredibly well.

"We've already raised almost £1000 in sponsorship, but need to reach £2000 each to qualify for the marathon. We've already run a fund raiser in the school and have a cake sale planned for Monday February 29 at Llandudno Hospital, and a family evening planned Saturday March 3 at Llandudno Junction Labour club.

Victoria lives in Glan Conwy, and Emma in Mochdre.
