LLANDUDNO inshore lifeboat, the Dr Barbara Saunderson, rescued a dog which had fallen into the sea from Colwyn Bay promenade on Monday.
The dog was struggling in the surging high tide, and there was concern that a member of the public might be tempted to attempt a rescue, and get into difficulties.
Taken by road to Rhos-on-Sea, the lifeboat reached the incident within minutes. The crew found that the dog, a springer spaniel, had been swept onto rocks at the base of the promenade and that a member of the public had climbed down a flight of stone steps to try to reach the animal.
The saturated dog was quickly taken aboard the lifeboat and was safely landed ashore into the care of its relieved owner.
