Conwy council are set to begin preparations for its four weekly bin collections which are set to be introduced in September.

Conwy's cabinet in a meeting yesterday agreed to provide additional support measures prior to the introduction of the four weekly bin collections.

Over the next few months, officers and councillors will be looking at coordinating the changes, finding out what additional support people might need, and starting to plan new collection routes.

In the meantime all households will continue to receive recycling and food waste collections every week and the council are looking add in additional services to residents if needed.

Extra recycling containers, weekly nappy collections, special arrangements for medical waste, garden waste, electrical items and textiles to be collected fortnightly and new measures will include free bulky waste collections, and mobile recycling centres in the rural area are all services the council are looking to include.

Cabinet Member, Cllr Donald Milne, said, “It’ll take a few months to make the arrangements for the changes, and once everything has been finalised we’ll circulate the full details and calendars to every household who will have a change to their collection.

“In the meantime, if you need extra recycling containers, a visit from our recycling officers or you have a question about refuse and recycling contact our Mochdre offices by email erf@conwy.gov.uk or phone 01492 575337.”
