MOTHERCARE’s Llandudno staff are due to lose their jobs according to a leaked memo which slates the local store for closure.
The company plans to close 50 stores in the UK.
A Mothercare spokesman said: “The list of stores which has been leaked was intended for the company’s creditors and landlords. The leaked list is accurate.
“The company’s focus is on the staff who will lose their jobs. It is carrying out consultation with staff who it move to other stores wherever possible.”
About 800 jobs throughout the UK will be affected.
Mothercare, which describes itself as the leading global retailer for parents and young children, announced earlier this week comprehensive measures to refinance its business and to restructure its UK store portfolio
The spokesman added: “Of course we regret having to close stores and the impact this will have on colleagues.
“The business was in an unsustainable situation and was in clear need of an appropriate resolution. Today’s comprehensive measures provide a renewed and stable financial structure for the business,”
It added the measures will allow Mothercare to accelerate a move to online retailing.
