A man has died this morning (Sunday) after falling into the sea in Llandudno.

At around 7.30am North Wales Police said they received a call reporting a man had fallen into the sea in Llandudno.

The angler, who had fallen into to sea at Pigeons Cave on Pen Trwyn, was recovered from the water by Llandudno's inshore lifeboat, which set off at full speed for the RNLI sea front boathouse.

In view of the casualty's condition the RNLI crew radioed Holyhead Coastguard to scramble rescue helicopter Rescue 136, and a land ambulance, to meet them on arrival at the boathouse.

No sooner had the lifeboat been beached and the casualty brought ashore than the helicopter landed close by, and airlifted the casualty to hospital.

Another man who had tried to help at the incident was also taken to hospital but isn't believed to be badly injured.

Police say that anyone who may have information relating to the incident is asked to call Central CID on 101, quoting reference W065803.
