THE angler who died after falling off the Great Orme last weekend has been named as Lukasz Lesniacki.

Mr Lesniacki, who was Polish, lived in Birmingham and worked for fishing tackle suppliers UK-Lures Ltd.

He was visiting Llandudno with a friend and was on a fishing trip, just off Pigeon’s Cove on the Great Orme, when he fell into the sea.

He was recovered from the water by Llandudno's inshore lifeboat before being airlifted to hospital by the Coastguard search and rescue helicopter.

His friend tried to rescue him. He was also taken to hospital but it is believed he did not sustain serious injuries.

It is understood Mr Lesniacki leaves a young baby.

A fundraiser for Mr Lesniacki has been set up on Facebook by friend, Patrycja Bury.

A statement on the page read: "Yesterday, May 20, 2018 he made his last fishing trip with his friend during which he fell from a cliff in Llandudno.

"Lukasz was a great man who selflessly supported many fishing initiatives and we will remember him that way ... now Luke's family needs support.

"Condolences for the family. Rest in peace Lukasz."

A donations page for his family has already raised more than £4,000.
