WOULD be market traders in Colwyn Bay will have a low cost opportunity to test the water in a national scheme to encourage local markets.
Now in its seventh year, the annual Love Your Local Market campaign has grown to become a global campaign with more than 3,000 events taking place across 17 countries ending on Thursday May 31.
Colwyn Bay’s town centre manager, Ingrid Lewis, said: “The Love Your Local Market (LYLM)campaign provides a great opportunity to highlight the importance of markets to the local community.
“In many towns, markets are a key part of the retail offer, they increase footfall and are a proven catalyst for encouraging the next generation of business people.”
She added: “In Colwyn Bay the cost of market pitches start at £15, but under the scheme they are reduced to £5 for a limited start up period.
“Regular stall holders back the national LYLM campaign and are happy to support business start ups in the market, and understand the need to offer them a limited period incentivised start up stand rate. They are happy to see the market promoted during LYLM.”
