COLWYN Bay’s new Mayor wants the entire local community to support the town’s regeneration.

Cllr Stephen Williams assumed office last week. He said: “I see The Bay of Colwyn being in a transitional stage, going from a town that had very little to offer, to a town that is putting on big events.

“The new council offices will bring increased footfall for local businesses, and there are great opportunities to be exploited with Conwy Council and the Colwyn Victorian Trust working together for the future of our seafront.”

He added: “There are some amazing things happening in our communities. I see it as my role to promote these opportunities and encourage people to support them anyway they can.

“I have witnessed a great deal of change in Colwyn Bay during recent years. We have had significant investment in Eirias Park, in housing renewal and on the waterfront, thanks to a programme of regeneration led by Conwy County Borough Council.

“We are looking forward to seeing the completion of the new council office building, and the additional footfall this will bring supporting our town centre.”

Cllr Williams added: “I would like to encourage the whole community to get behind the regeneration of our town, and recognise the wonderful assets that we have, and for people together to improve and enhance our sense of community.

“By working together we can make Colwyn Bay a truly fantastic place to live, work and visit.”

Cllr Williams said he had recently become a domiciliary care worker for Canol Lan in Llandudno, a local care agency, after previously being a group director for the Carbon Zero Group.

He said: “I have lived in Colwyn Bay for most of my life and I feel very proud to become Mayor of the town I have grown up in.”
