This is your chance to name the new Colwyn Bay kiosk

With the site nearing completion and the grand opening date set, managers Mark and Tracy Mansfield are calling on residents to help pick a name for their new business.

A competition will be run on the kiosk's Facebook page until the end of June giving people the chance to make suggestions.

Mrs Mansfield said: "Mark and I are really excited about opening up the new kiosk. We see work progressing daily and we can't wait to get inside and put the finishing touches on the place.

"In order to help us get ready we would like to run a competition to get the local community to help think of a name. But not Kiosk McKiosk Face."

The winner of the competition will receive afternoon tea for two at the kiosk and the opportunity to cut the ribbon at the grand opening on July 1.

Entries are to be made by liking the Bay Kiosk Facebook page (www.facebook.com/thebaykiosk) and posting suggestions on their by June 30. A top 10 will be selected and a Facebook poll will then decide on the final name.

Mrs Mansfield said her and husband Mark are looking forward to opening the kiosk, having previously run a small business by the Rhos-on-Sea paddling pool since 2011 with a jumping castle and ice creams.

She said she was born and grew up in Colwyn Bay and was looking to follow on a strong family tradition of supporting the tourism industry in the area.

Mrs Mansfield added: "Having been born in Colwyn Bay my family have, for the past six decades, earned a living from the holiday trade in Colwyn Bay.

"My paternal Grandfather was the chairman of the hoteliers whilst owning the Belvedere and then the commodore. My maternal grandparents ran a small B&B in Lawson Road.

"My parents in the sixties and seventies ran the Marine Hotel on West promenade. I have spent a lifetime working within this industry and feel in some respects that it is in my blood."

The pair will be running a Prosecco on the prom event on July 14 to celebrate Paloma Faith's concert at Stadiwm Zip World.
