The Pirate Festival sails into Rhos-on-Sea this weekend.

This will be the first time the event has been held in Rhos-on-Sea having previously been held in Conwy.

But event organiser, Chris Williams, said this year’s event is set to be as big and just as good as previous events and he was looking forward to getting things underway on Saturday.

Mr Williams said: “I can’t wait. I am really excited, because so much hard work has gone into getting this event ready I am just looking forward to seeing everything just fall into place.

“There is going to be something for everyone and most of the pirate themed activities will be free to take part in.”

A tug-of-war competition, live entertainment on three stages, power boat rides and firing of the cannons are just some of the events on offer for the adults.

While there will be plenty on offer for the children including treasure hunts, pirate workshops, a mermaids lagoon and free kayak hire all day.

Mr Williams said the businesses and residents of Rhos-on-Sea had really got behind the new event and were hoping to make it their own.

He added: “The business and locals have really been giving us their support, locals have been getting in touch and saying they are available to help if needed on the day.

“The businesses in Rhos-on-Sea have been really looking forward to it. They will be dressing up their windows and running competitions with some really great prizes on offer.”

The weekend was originally organised for June 15 and 16 but had to be moved forward a week because of an international women's cycling race through the area.

The event will run through the town of Rhos-on-Sea from Saturday until Sunday. For a full guide of the weekends festivities head to the Pirate Weekend Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/conwypirateweekend/.
