Work has begun to remove large rocks from Llandudno's North shore.

The removal will take place from the children's corner on North Shore as part of Conwy County Borough Council's (CCBC) routine annual beach management plan.

Work, which started this morning, is expected to take about three working days so should be completed by the end of the week in time for the weekend.

The work will see the removal of large stones from the lower beach at children;s corner in Llandudno.

Once the large stones have been removed the area will be surf raked to remove any fine material or debris from the beach.

A CCBC spokesperson said every effort would be made to minimise the amount of work on the beach during peak times.

Conwy County Council is currently working with Llandudno Coastal Forum to come up with a long term future plan for the beaches.

Public consultation on the Coastal Forums’s Beach Management Plan (BMP) took place last November.

Work on developing this plan and looking into its proposals is ongoing.

The BMP included proposals for the creation of beaches fit for purpose, appropriate flood and coastal erosion management, natural environment improvement, acknowledgement of cultural heritage, and creation of commercial opportunities.
