Armed Forces Day is well and truly upon us and Llandudno is all set to hold the national celebration.

The more than 300,000 visitors and residents set to converge on Llandudno will have plenty to keep them entertained on the main day of celebrations, Saturday, June 30, with Conwy Council revealing the program for the event.

Beach raids, the Red Arrows, Battle of Britain memorial flight, an unarmed combat display, RAF Falcons and various bands on display there will be plenty to do over the course of the weekend.

A Frigate is also set to enter the Llandudno Bay for spectators to get a glimpse up close of one of the giant warships.

Bodafon Field will play host to a variety of activities including hot air balloon rides. A Chinook, Wildcat and Merlin helicopter, and challenger tank will also be on display for attendees to get up close and personal with some of the equipment used by the countries armed forces.

All of these activities will coenside with the visits of the Princess Royal, Princess Anne, and the potential visit of Prime Minister Theresa May.

Park and ride shuttles, plus extra public transport runs will be available on the day to manage the amount of traffic in Llandudno and surrounding areas.

North Wales Police are offering a warm welcome to the thousands of visitors heading to Llandudno later this month for National Armed Forces Day.

The policing operation is set to be amongst the largest in North Wales Police’s history and will involve over 500 North Wales Police officers and staff.

Superintendent Jane Banham, Silver Commander for the event, added: “On Saturday June 30th Llandudno will be honouring the work of our Armed Forces personnel as it hosts the national Armed Forces Day celebrations.

"We are proud to police National Armed Forces Day and are working closely with our partners to deliver a safe, secure and enjoyable event for all.

“The celebrations will be attended by the Princess Royal, Princess Anne, senior political and military representatives, civic representatives and hundreds of service personnel, both Regular and Reserve – from the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force, Cadets and Veterans.

“We want people to have a safe and enjoyable time and make sure the weekend is memorable for all the right reasons."

“Local residents, businesses and visitors are encouraged to continue to be vigilant and help be our extra eyes and ears. If you see something that doesn’t look right, let us know and we will look into your concerns fully."
