NINE North and Mid Wales Assembly Members took part in a fundraising walk for Velindre Cancer Care, in support of their colleague, Plaid Cymru AM Steffan Lewis, who has been diagnosed with bowel cancer.

The politicians tackled the more than five miles trek between the Cross Keys pub in Llandudno and the Cross Keys pub in Penrhynside.

They were joined by staff, local councillors, former MP Elfyn Llwyd, friends, and even Ken Skates AM’s dog, Thumper.

Local AM Janet Finch-Saunders said: “It was wonderful to see so many AMs from across the political divide join together to raise funds and awareness for such a marvellous cause. Already more over £11,500 has been raised, almost four times the original fundraising target.

“Steffan’s story has touched so many people, and his bravery and honesty in talking so openly about his experience is truly inspiring. That he has received such exemplary care and support from Velindre has clearly been of great comfort to his family, and it is fantastic these walks have been able to raise funds to let them continue this valuable work.”
