A WOMAN who drove because she didn’t want her sister to be with their mother was left with a bill for almost £3,000 when she appeared at Llandudno magistrates’ court.

Hillary Davis was also banned from driving for 40 months after having three-and-a-half times the legal limit of alcohol.

Prosecutor James Neary said that a member of the public called the police on June 28 after being concerned about the way a car was being driven along the prom in Colwyn Bay.

Davis, 45, Pentre Isaf, Old Colwyn, was found to have 123 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35.

Solicitor Donald Roberts said that she had had no intention of driving but wanted to get her sister away from her mother with whom she lived.

Davis, who was said to earn £45,000 a -year as an operations manager with Network Rail, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

She was fined £2,700s and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £180 surcharge.
