An 83-year-old man grateful that hospital staff had saved his wife had suddenly hugged and kissed a shocked worker on the lips - and stroked her breast over clothing, a court heard.

Emlyn Williams, of Capel Garmon, Llanrwst, in the Conwy Valley, a builder never in trouble before, was bailed by magistrates at Llandudno for a probation report. He admitted sexual touching at Glan Clwyd Hospital.

Defence solicitor Graham Parry said the pensioner had been very emotional on the ward.

He remarked: "He doesn’t remember the incident in any detail at all. We watched the CCTV. He’s done something silly.”

Mr Parry said it was an “unusual” case involving a man who had been visiting his wife in hospital. She had been seriously ill.

Court chairwoman Janet Ellis said: "We agree the case should be adjourned for an all options report.”

Gareth Parry, prosecuting, said the offence lasted just seconds. The victim was shocked and tried to push the pensioner away.

“She shouted out ‘excuse me, you are harassing me’.”

Mr Parry said management were informed and police alerted.
