Businesses in Colwyn Bay are on the up, benefitting from recent investments and funding.

Colwyn Bay restaurant Bryn Williams at Porth Eirias winning an award and the opening of the new Colwyn Bay kiosk have headlined the success businesses in the town have been having of late.

Both are part of the waterfront redevelopment project, part of European funding, and are proving to be highly successful amongst residents and visitors to the town.

Bethan Wynne-Jones, Conwy County Borough Council (CCBC) property investment officer, said: “The impact of this work on Colwyn Bay’s Waterfront cannot be underestimated, and the very real success of our tenants in the area highlights this perfectly.”

She said the feel good factor was here to stay, with plenty of opportunities still to come including the Rhos Point redevelopment.

CCBC economic development staff are currently evaluating just how big an impact investments on the area are having on Colwyn Bay businesses.

Cllr Louise Emery, Conwy’s cabinet member for economic development, said: “The regeneration of Colwyn Bay will be measured by the successes of our local businesses.

"Colwyn Bay has a strong tradition of niche retailers; specialists that are a destination in themselves for customers. And I’m delighted that new businesses on the Waterfront are part of this scene.”

Bryn Williams bistro claimed the BRA Best Restaurant in Wales award and cllr Emery congratulated the team on their success.

She said: “It’s testament to our tenants’ hard work in making their Colwyn Bay business a success, and we’re delighted that their hard work has seen the bistro awarded the BRA Best Restaurant in Wales award.”

'Horizon Shine', the new kiosk on the Colwyn Bay Waterfront is run by Tracy and Mark Mansfield's, who said they have already been really busy and were receiving positive feedback.

Mrs Mansfield said: “We can’t believe the support we are already getting from local people and visitors alike.”
