A Conwy pub/inn has been awarded for its major improvements over the past few years.

The Erskine Arms was awarded CAMRA's most improved pub of the year recently.

The pub, formally known as the Malt Loaf, had a major face-lift and re-opened in May 2017.

Many of the pubs’ previously unused rooms were re-opened, the letting rooms were refurbished and re-opened, a restaurant was added as was an outside drinking area.

CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) Chairman Ian Saunders said the most important aspects of the improvements were behind the bar.

He said: "The Malt Loaf only had one real ale available whereas the bar of the Erskine Arms now boasts six hand pumps, five with real ale and one with real cider.

"I prise them for creating a great atmosphere and a fantastic place to eat and drink.

"On the bar are local beers and ciders from award winning breweries such as Black Sheep, Timothy Taylors and locally, Conwy and Heavy Industry Breweries as well as guest beers from around the country.”

Erskine Arms manager Ben Jones said: "I would like to thank CAMRA for the recognition of the efforts of the Erskine team. I would also like to thank the locals and visitors for supporting this new venture."
