With the Conwy Culture Centre due to be finished in autumn 2019, council has already begun booking activities and projects to be run on the new site.

Construction is currently underway on the £3.7 million project which is being built on the old Bodlondeb School site.

More than £47,000 to fund the Cornel Celf Project, led by the Conwy Arts Trust, a programme of arts, culture, and heritage activities that will be run in the new culture centre.

Cornel Celf will enable the trust, other community groups, and artists to showcase their work, hold workshops and events, and deliver arts education projects at the bespoke facility.

The area will include a sprung floor, wet work area, and teaching and exhibition space.

Conwy Arts Trust chairperson, Dilwyn Price, said: “The Trust is very pleased to lead this exceptional project and thanks Gwynt y Môr for its generous funding.

"We eagerly look forward to the opening of this new arts hub and celebrating the artistic skills of new and established artists.

"A state-of-the-art facility within a special building will provide wonderful opportunities to enhance skills and promote the artistic flair of Conwy county residents.”

Conwy Culture Centre project manager, Helen Bradley, said: “During the development phase of the Culture Centre project, we engaged with nearly 700 people to see what sorts of facilities they would like to see at the Culture Centre.

“Overwhelmingly, people wanted to take part in hands-on opportunities to experience and learn about local heritage through the visual arts, so the Cornel Celf project is a fantastic partnership opportunity for the services that will be based at the centre.”

The Culture Centre will provide a new library, archive, heritage hub, and café adjacent to Conwy Castle and Town Walls.
