SEVERAL thousand people thronged Conwy’s quay for the RNLI lifeboat station’s first open day.
It was such a success and attracted so much support that it has been decided to repeat the event next year.
The Coastguard helicopter put on a rescue demonstration with the lifeboat and Llandudno’s all weather lifeboat. In addition a raft race on the river added to the spectacle.
The open day was supported by: St John Ambulance; the Llandudno Coastguard Rescue Team; RNLI lifeguards; craft stalls; live bands and a licensed bar.
An RNLI spokesman said: “We are overwhelmed by the support shown by the general public. This was our first large scale open day to raise funds for our charity lifeboat station and we couldn’t be more pleased how the day panned out.
“We are looking forward to next year’s already.”
