ROCKS have been painted pink on the Great Orme, and an appeal for information about the vandals has been made by North Wales Police’s rural crime team.
The team posted a message on Twitter which said: “We are now investigating the damage to a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) on the Great Orme.
“Someone thinks they are being clever but they have destroyed rare lichens and other wild plants. Disgraceful actions damaging a highly protected area. We need your help.”
A SSSI is a conservation designation denoting a protected area of particular biological or geological importance.
Members of the public who know anything about the incident or have any relevant information are asked to contact North Wales Police via livechat at: http://www.north-wales.police.uk/contact/chat-support.aspx
