A KNIFE-wielding robber threatened a man in the street in Colwyn Bay and made him hand over cash.

The robbery happened yesterday (Saturday, August 18) near to the Royal Mail Delivery office on Princes Drive. The suspect also demanded money.

He then made off from the area towards the junction with Marine Road.

The victim has been left shaken and traumatised by the incident.

Detective Inspector Jamie Roberts of St Asaph CID said: “This was a particularly callous, cowardly attack on a young man who was in the area intending to enjoy a night out.

“I would like to reassure the local community that incidents such as this are rare, but would ask that members of the public be on their guard if out walking alone at night.

“There will be increased police patrols in the area and a team of detectives are in the process of examining CCTV and speaking to witnesses."

The victim was approached at about 6.45pm.

The suspect is described as a white male aged between 25 and 30-years-old and of stocky build. He was wearing a dark grey and blue tracksuit top and a baseball cap.

North Wales Police are appealing for witnesses or to anyone who was in the area at about 6.45pm on the evening of Saturday, August 18. An appeal is also being made to drivers who have been travelling along Princes Drive and have dash cam footage.
