Looking for the best pub in the UK, you need look no further than Llandudno.

The Cottage Loaf has beaten 50 other pubs across the country to be voted holidaycoattages.co.uk best in the UK.

General manager of the Cottage Loaf, Jane Selby, has been in charge of the Cottage Loaf for 10 years, having lived in Llandudno her whole life.

She said this accolade was very special and fantastic for her and all her staff.

Ms Selby said: "It feels fantastic. All the staff work really really hard and to receive this award is credit to them for all the work they do. All our hard work has paid off."

The food, home made by chef Carl Morris, and the wide selection of ales Ms Selby said were the two factors that stood them ahead of the pack when it came to the voting.

She said: "Carl Morris has been with us for eight years and he produces some fantastic food.

"We have a lot of local ales as well - we source our beers from places like Conwy Brewery and the Great Orme Brewery, so I think those two things are the main reasons for us taking out this award."

Ms Selby said she has put a lot of time, money and effort into the business since taking it over 10 years ago.

But she said it was all down to her fantastic staff and the hard work they put in.

She said: "A big mention has to be made to my staff, a big thank you to them.

"They are always working really hard and make the place what it is."

The Cottage Load was named in first place for best pub in the UK ahead of the Boat Inn, The Cotswolds in second and the Hicks Bar, St Austell Brewery’s tap, in Cornwall, third.
