ASDA staff in Llandudno have been recognised as some of the longest serving in the country.

Checkout operator Lyn Roberts, home and leisure's Julie Richardson and admin manager Bernard Bates are all celebrating 40 years with the company and are among 15 Llandudno employees being recognised for their long service to the store at Asda’s “Big Anniversary” Awards.

Between the 15 Llandudno employees being recognised at the awards night they had worked a combined 385 years of experience.

Mr Bates has been praised by colleagues for his work over the past 40 years and is know as a 'man with a plan'.

Ms Roberts, a checkout operator who originally started working at the store in 1978, is notorious in the Llandudno store. Described as 'little miss reliable' by her colleagues, it is widely known she can be found at checkout 10 – the same checkout she has used for the past 40 years.

Regular customers often demand to be served by Ms Roberts and are happy to queue up and wait at her checkout, praising her for always going above and beyond to brighten their day.

She said: “I can’t believe how quickly the last 40 years have flown by and it’s really nice to see that we’re all one big Asda family and such a big part of the local community. It was great to receive such recognition with the awards and it was lovely to look back on all of the great memories we share with our fellow colleagues from throughout the years.”

"We have a superstition in store around checkout 13 because several colleagues fell pregnant who worked on it. I was one of them and vowed not to work on it again - I moved to checkout 10 and i've stayed there ever since!"

Nigel Roberts, general store manager at Asda Llandudno, is also among those celebrating, having reached 35 years of service with Asda.

Nigel said: “I am incredibly proud to be celebrating a ‘Big Anniversary’ with Asda this year! It is a fantastic opportunity to give recognition to my colleagues for the ongoing commitment and support to the business.
