Intrepid explorers can delve to the bottom of ocean and beyond in Venue Cymru this month.

Now in its fifth year, The Ocean Film Festival will drop anchor once again on Llandudno’s shores for another awe-inspiring marine short film spectacular.

The event, which originated in Australia, aims to inspire a ripple of exploration, respect and enjoyment of the perils that face 70 percent of our blue planet through a combination breathtaking cinematography and rousing storytelling.

Waves of edifying and inspirational tales from the high seas will make a splash in a brand-new selection of films featuring seafaring adventurers rowing treacherous oceans, intrepid surfers riding the world’s biggest waves, and explores our planet’s spectacular hidden depths.

Pearls from the 2018 Ocean Film Tour include Kiwi Breeze, the story of a New Zealander living in London in a house is bedecked with charts and plans and a nine-year labour of love in his back garden in the shape of a 44ft yacht.

Touched by the Ocean tells the raucous tale of Latvian friends Karlis and Gints in their second-hand rowing boat, with no rowing experience and a grand plan - to become the first team ever to row across the South Atlantic Ocean, from Namibia to Brazil.

The Big Wave Project, five years in the making, continues the theme of camaraderie at sea following a tight-knit crew of leading big wave surfers as they work together to ride the world’s biggest wave.

There will be another four films for audiences to joy – one for each of the seven seas – guaranteeing yet another enchanting selection of action and spellbinding footage from both above and below the water’s surface as well as a free prize giveaway ocean-related goodies.

Tour director Nell Teasdale said: “Through stunning cinematography and mesmerising storytelling, audiences can expect to be wowed by the magic and mysteries of the world’s oceans… coming at you through the big screen.”
