One of the West End's funniest success stories is making its way back to North Wales next week.

With a fresh cast, Olivier and Tony Award-winning sensation The Play That Goes Wrong is on stage at Llandudno's Venue Cymru for six nights of chaos this month.

The brainchild of the Mischief Theatre company members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, The Play That Goes Wrong continues to play to sold out houses in the West End, whilst enjoying its new status as Broadway’s longest running play.

The Play That Goes Wrong is a highly physical comedy, packed with finely-tuned farce and Buster Keaton-inspired slapstick delivered with split-second timing and ambitious daring.

The play introduces The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, which is attempting to put on a 1920s’ murder mystery, but as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong does!

The accident prone thespians find themselves battling on against all the odds to get to their final curtain call.

Producer Kenny Wax said: “Why would all these regional theatres want a return visit of our little murder mystery show when last year’s tour went so badly wrong. I am at a loss to understand it."

Despite waxing lyrical on its short comings, the play must be doing something right - The Play That Goes Wrong has netted an impressive 11 international awards, including the 2015 Olivier Award for best new comedy and a 2017 Tony Award for its Broadway transfer - despite starting life at a London fringe venue with only four paying members of the public at the first performance in a remarkable rags-to-riches story.

Since then, it has played to an audience of almost one and a half million worldwide.

The new touring cast includes Jake Curran as Chris, Catherine Dryden as Annie, Bobby Hirston as Max and Benjamin McMahon as Dennis.

To see what all the fuss is about - and what goes wrong - head to Venue Cymru from Monday, September 10 until Saturday 15, with additional matinee shows at 2.30pm on Wednesday 12 and Saturday 15.

Tickets range from £11.50 to £32.50, available from venuecymru.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01492 872000.
