LLANRWST was awarded silver in the Small Town category in the Wales in Bloom competition, the culmination of a year’s worth of hard work.
The judges report said the town was: “Clearly trying to engage with the whole community and delivering some real changes to the area. There is developing a real sense of ownership in the town with shops and businesses adding to the hanging baskets in and around the main streets. The street cleansing was of a good standard along with the street furniture.”
Rosie Evans, secretary of Blooming Llanrwst said: “The volunteers have been gardening for all hours in all weathers, and are to be commended for all of their hard work improving our town. The group work all year round to improve our town. Last year we worked with Men’s Shed and Golygfa Gwydyr, a Llanrwst community group based at Gowers road where timber from the Gwydyr Forest was used to build benches and planters."
