After downing a bottle of brandy and pints of beer to celebrate his birthday Brad Hughes was so drunk he couldn’t remember attacking a bouncer and policewoman.
The story was told to magistrates at Llandudno on Friday when he was ordered to pay £715 and told he had been “very close” to custody.
He pleaded guilty to common assault on PC Courtney Harrison and Dewi Wyn Jones, a security man at the Royal pub, Colwyn Bay.
Hughes, 31, of Valley View, Tynygroes, Conwy, was fined £400 for the assaults and he must pay his victims £100 each in compensation, with £115 costs.
Sarah Marsh, prosecuting, said police had been called to the pub at 12.30am on May 27. Hughes was abusive, hitting the security man and kicking the officer’s hand.
Nia Dawson, defending, said Hughes had an enormous amount to drink, being an infrequent social drinker. A probation officer said he had abstained since the incident.
Court chairwoman Ann Dickinson told him: “Two people were attacked – you were very close to crossing the custody line.”
