MORE than £79,000 has been awarded by BBC Children in Need to a project in Conwy to provide services to disadvantaged children and young people.

Tre Cwm Community Association, Llandudno, has been awarded £79,184 to provide a number of youth clubs for local children and young people living in areas of deprivation.

The project will work with children and young people to provide activities tailored to their interests such as arts and crafts, outdoor play, healthy eating, cookery sessions and a homework club. Through attending the three year project the children and young people will have more self-belief and greater feelings of self-worth.

Ms Carolyn Hodrien, Centre Manager at Tre Cwm Community Association said: “The new funding from BBC Children in Need will allow us to deliver activities which will support children and young people and increase their opportunity to engage with their peers in a safe environment that provides focused activities.

“The clubs will encourage children and young people to grow in confidence and self-esteem whilst helping to broaden their horizons.”
