THE mountains and coastline of Wales is set to be seen through three pairs of eyes in a Conwy Valley gallery this weekend.

The Ffin y Parc Gallery in Llanrwst will host a joint exhibition on Sunday, October 14 of landscape paintings featuring well-established gallery artists Beth Fletcher, Pete Monaghan and Anne Aspinall.

The exhibition, which runs until Wednesday, November 7, features the first exhibition in two years at the gallery for Aberystwyth University graduate and new mother Fletcher.

Fletcher said: “Making these 26 paintings has taken more time, blood, sweat and tears than possibly any of my previous shows, since 99 percent of my energy has been going into birthing and raising my baby.

"It’s the first body of work that has emerged out of this new way of life, with severely curtailed studio time, enjoying my daughter while also trying not to go mad with frustrated creativity. So I’m giving myself a big pat on the back.”

Joining Fletcher is fellow Aberystwyth graduate Pete Monaghan, who honed his craft as an illustrator for twenty years.

Gallery owner Ralph Sanders said: "His background in illustration informs his bold and clear paintings of Welsh vernacular architecture,” explained Ralph.

“From initial sketches in the open, he refines and reworks his images in the studio, layering and covering to create beautiful collages.”

Also exhibiting is Aspinall, who trained at Manchester College of Art and Design and describes herself as a colourist, whose exhibit focuses on the coastline and domestic landscapes of North Wales.

Aspinall said: “For some of my paintings in this show I got caught in two storms, hurricane winds, torrential rain - but luckily Moelfre was still beautiful.”

Beth Fletcher, Pete Monaghan and Anne Aspinall will be exhibiting at Ffin y Parc Gallery from Sunday, October 14 until Wednesday, November 7. For more information call the gallery on 01492 642070 or visit welshart.net.
