A COLWYN Bay pupil has been selected for the Sale Sharks under-15 development squad.
Gabriel Speakman, year 10 pupil at Rydal Penrhos School, will join the Premiership Rugby club's youth side following a number of trials involving more than 200 hopefuls in recent months.
The teenager, who plays for Mold Rugby Club, is among 45 players from across North Wales, Cheshire and the North West who will receive expert coaching to develop their skills and progress in the sport.
A Rydal Penrhos spokesperson said: "Everyone at Rydal Penrhos would like to congratulate Gabriel on making the Sale Sharks development squad. We are enormously proud of his commitment and ongoing progress across a wide range of academic subjects and extra-curricular activities."
Gabriel's sporting achievement is only the latest to celebrate in the Speakman household, with older brother Zach is aiming for Commonwealth Games qualification in swimming.
