ANOTHER big name has been added to the line-up for this year's Access All Eirias.

Chart topping Grime artist Wiley has joined the bill for the town's major music event, which last year generated over £300,000 for the town.

Conwy Council research revealed that the music event brought in £314,828 to the town, with around £86,000 spent by organisers on event needs, including accommodation, catering and marketing.

Conwy Council Chief Executive Iwan Davies said: “I’m delighted that we’re able to put the event on again this summer.

“It draws people in from other parts of the country and the North West of England, and the hope is to have those people spread the word and return here.”

Former X Factor winners Little Mix will headline this year’s event, alongside chart topper Conor Maynard and Britain’s Got Talent finalists The Loveable Rogues.

Conwy County Council has committed to invest £180,000 to the event over the next two years.

Mr Davies added: “The council doesn’t actually have a legal duty to regenerate the area, but I think it’s probably one of the most important things we do.

“Our commitment to the event is going to reduce every year, with the aim of making it self sustaining with investment from the private sector.

“The dream is for it to become a nationally recognised brand.

“It is ambitious, but we have the facilities and we’re just making the most out of what we have.”

Colwyn Bay Town Centre Manager Ingrid Lewis said: “It’s a fantastic event for the town and events like this bring a major boost.

“Parc Eirias is a huge asset for Colwyn Bay and it’s great to see it being utilised like this.”

Conwy County Council leader Dilwyn Roberts said: “We want to help establish Access All Eirias as the centre for events in North Wales, and that’s what the idea was in the first place.

“We’ll be doing what we can to bring this event back every year, and to develop it into something profitable and hopefully self-sustaining.”
