LOCAL women who want to get a head start in business are being given a helping hand by a networking organisation.

“Get Your Frock On – The Women’s Confidence Wardrobe” is a new initiative that the Network She Foundation will be launching at the Women Mean Business Conference on September 18 at Venue Cymru, Llandudno.

The conference is a showcase of resources, support and solutions for women looking to develop themselves and will feature inspirational international speakers and an interactive exhibition of 40 support services and opportunities.

The idea for Get Your Frock came about after Network She helped a member called Sian get back to work after five years bringing up her son.

Ruth Lloyd-Williams, chair of the Network She Foundation said: “I met Sian at one of our events.

“She was keen to get back into the workplace and I helped her access support for CV writing skills, interview techniques and showed her how best to access the job market.

“That was only the start. After Sian was successful in securing a new job, she didn’t have the appropriate clothing to re-enter the work environment or the budget to buy a new wardrobe of work clothes.

“I then realised that there are lots of other women out there who are in a similar position and the Get Your Frock On idea was born.”

Ruth added: “The new initiative goes a lot further though. We have brought together women from across the regions who will offer access to an appropriate wardrobe, confidence building training and opening doors into education and employment.”

Entry to the Women Mean Business Conference where Get Your Frock On is being launched is free if you take along an item of pre-loved or new quality clothing that can be given to women accessing the support.
