Five-time world snooker champion Ronnie O'Sullivan will headline the opening night of the Ladbrokes Players Championship at Venue Cymru.

O'Sullivan will face a yet to be confirmed opponent on Monday March 6 as part of 16 man tournament where a prize of £125,000 will be awarded to the winner.

Recently crowned Welsh Open Champion Stuart Bingham will also be in action on Monday evening at 7pm, while Tuesday's 1pm session sees world number one and World Champion Mark Selby kick off his campaign, with Judd Trump and Barry Hawkins featuring at 7pm on Tuesday.

Welshman Ryan Day who currently occupies 16th spot in the world rankings realises that if he doesn't win his matches at this week's Gibraltar Open, his spot in the Llandudno event could be in jeopardy.

Day said: "Qualifying for the event in Llandudno would be fantastic because it's a great event and it would also improve my chances of staying in the top 16 for the World Championship. It's a superb venue and I've really enjoyed playing there in the past."

Tickets are still available for the ITV4 televised event and start at just £15 but fans must book fast because certain sessions will be sold out soon.
