BROADCASTER Carol Vorderman has called for a General Election in the wake of the fallout from the Partygate scandal.

Carol, 62, who has called former Prime Minister Boris Johnson "a dose of diarrhoea", was speaking after a report released on Thursday,

It revealed the Privileges Committee found Mr Johnson deliberately misled the House with his Partygate denials before being complicit in a campaign of abuse and intimidation against the MPs investigating him.

Former Countdown star Carol, who grew up in Rhyl and Prestatyn, has become an outspoken critic of the Conservative government.

She tweeted: "I've had enough, have you?

"GENERAL ELECTION NOW."

Carol, who recently teased she is working with Rob Brydon on a project, also held a twitter poll, that saw 96% of more than 43,000 respondants agree it was time for an election.

She tweeted: "Good Morning Results in from our little Twitter Poll this week "Do You Want A General Election Now?" 43,507 votes 96% YES 4% NO."

Twitter user AlisonJane Addison replied: "Carol you’re fantastic! This government needs to go, I voted YES. This government couldn’t care less all they care about is themselves, selfish to the core. It’s definitely time for change."

Michelle Doyle tweeted: "Wow! 96% YES to a GE! Keep up the fight Carol."

The Commons will vote on Monday (June 19) on the Privileges Committee’s report, which recommended that Mr Johnson should have faced a 90-day suspension had he not already resigned in advance of its judgment and be banned from holding a pass to access Parliament.

MPs will be given a free vote, but allies of Mr Johnson warned Tories they could face battles with their local parties to remain as candidates at the next election if they back the motion.
