A NURSERY in Llandudno says it has dealt with issues that were raised in a Care Inspectorate Report, which deemed areas unsafe.

Kiddies Corner, a children’s day care nursery at Bryniau Road, was visited by Care Inspectorate Wales on October 25, with a report published in December.

The report criticised the nursery’s environment, in that some areas were unsafe, risk assessments were not always completed, and hazards were not always managed well, which it said required “immediate attention”.

The nursery was also issued with three priority action notices for a number of “serious issues”, including signs of decay on outdoor decking areas, and sleeping arrangements for children posing “possible risk of harm to them”.

It was, however, praised for the happiness of children, and the activities and opportunities afforded to them.

In response, the nursery said it had “addressed and resolved” the aforementioned problems, and remained “fully committed” to providing a safe and nurturing environment.

Managing director Tony Gibbons, whose family established the business 25 years ago, said the nursery was also being renovated and wished to reassure parents of the site’s safety.

He told the Pioneer: “Regarding the CIW report, we acknowledge the findings and want to clarify that any of the minor issues identified were addressed and resolved promptly.

“The nursery is currently going through renovation work to ensure that it remains the highest rated nursery in Llandudno for another 25 years.

“We are determined to enhance our standards and are committed to ongoing improvements. Kiddies Corner values the trust parents place in us and we are dedicated to living up to their expectations and providing the best possible care for their children.”

Several parents whose children attended the nursery came out in defence of Kiddies Corner, with several saying they “couldn’t fault” the establishment and that it was the “best nursery” in Llandudno.

Mr Gibbons added: “At Kiddies Corner Day Nursery, we are fully committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and high-quality environment for all the children in our care.

“The wellbeing and development of our children have always been our top priority. We want to reassure parents and the community that we took the concerns raised in last year's Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) report very seriously.

“Firstly, it's important to note that Kiddies Corner has rigorous safety and health measures in place. We employ a leading health and safety firm for annual checks to ensure our facilities meet the highest standards.

“Additionally, we have comprehensive processes in place, including regular checks and security cameras in every room and employing staff who are qualified and have undergone DBS checks.

"This demonstrates our unwavering commitment to the safety and security of our children.”
