A MAN who was part of a gang which transported drugs from Merseyside to North Wales has been handed an additional jail term after missing his sentencing hearing.

Reece Toulson, 27, of Poulton Road, Seacombe, was sentenced to six years and eight months’ imprisonment on September 22, 2023 for conspiring to supply heroin and cocaine.

But prosecutor Richard Edwards said that, after he was sentenced in his absence at Caernarfon Crown Court that day, officers later found him hiding at his home address when a search warrant was executed.

Toulson, who admitted failing to surrender to custody, was sentenced to an additional four weeks in prison at Mold Crown Court today (February 19).

Daniel Travers, defending Toulson, asked the court to acknowledge his guilty plea by way of a reduced sentence.

Judge Timothy Petts, presiding over today’s hearing, ordered that Toulson’s four-week jail sentence runs consecutively to that which he received last September.

He told Toulson: “Last September, you should have been in court to receive your long sentence for your drugs conspiracy involvement.

“It took some time for you to be located. This was clearly a deliberate attempt to evade or delay justice.”
