A MAN who runs a barber shop from his own home in Rhyl has introduced a new subscription service into his business.

Jordan Baker, 27, has run Jordan Baker Barbering from his converted detached garage for the last three-and-a-half years, but has now brought in a new scheme aiming to save customers money.

His subscription plan offers three tiers - £15 per month for unlimited haircuts, £20 per month for unlimited skin fades, and £30 per month for unlimited hair and beard services.

He believes his business is the first in Rhyl to offer such a model, and implemented it because of the impacts of the cost of living crisis.

Jordan said: “We are the first business that I know of offering subscription-based services, where clients pay a monthly fee for unlimited services.

“Amid the financial situation of the world, I decided to roll this out, where people pay a monthly fee on the first day of the month and receive unlimited services.

“We also do ‘normal barbering’ on a ‘pay as you go’ basis, so just a haircut is £10.”

Jordan runs his business from his Westfield Road home on an appointment-only basis, and had previously owned salons prior to setting this up.

A former teacher, he also works at The Kings Academy, Deeside, teaching Level 2 barbering and individualised sub-courses.

He said: “It (subscription model) has been good and busy so far, but you can never be too busy!

“On average, it saves people about £60 a month. For people who get their haircut once a week, paying £20 a go, they can pay a subscription and save themselves some money.

“Even if someone comes twice a month, they can still save some money. If you’ve got the option to go whenever you want, you can maybe keep up with it a little bit more.”
