A CLEAN-up effort has helped save the day at a popular café that was flooded with water during high tide and strong winds.

The floor at Coast Café Bar and Gift Shop, next to Craig-y-Don paddling pool, was covered with about three or four inches of water on Tuesday, April 9 when high tide hit just before 12pm.

The tide reached 8.3 metres in Llandudno.

Darren Randle, who also owns the Coast Cafe in Rhos on Sea, said: "There was three or four inches of water covering the floor. There was nothing we could do to stop it happening.

"A lot of people chipped into help. Kev from Home Cookin in Llandudno came down to help with brushes and an aqua vac and a friend from 147. The staff also helped.

"We have done a deep clean and we have been able to re-open. We have a dehumidifier to help dry out the place.

"We'd like to thank everyone for their support."

Coast is back open today (April 10).
