TALENTED North East Wales futsal players have gained a notable triumph.

FC United of Wrexham U13s provided displays of skill and determination to defeat two Australian U14 sides 7-2 and 7-3.

The outstanding performances by the young FC United of Wrexham players not only showcased their talent, but also underlined the immense potential of the sport in Wales.

The victories stand as a testament to the team's hard work and dedication, as well as the unwavering support from the community.

Team manager Andrew Ruscoe said: "We are immensely proud of these lads. They have worked tirelessly over the last few months preparing for these matches.

"The boys are nearing 350 games of futsal since we started and our target is 500. Last season, three lads left us to join Wrexham AFC, so futsal needs to become bigger in the region.

"We are working closely with North East Wales FA chairman Dave Fawkes to make this happen, as he is extremely passionate about the development of futsal, too.

"This achievement of beating Australia with such high results shows that we could have a bright future in the sport if it continues to be nurtured correctly."

Isaac Jones and Dewi Williams were FC United's top players in the successes, while all of those who took to the pitch played their part.

The team is now in its 10th season having started as under-fours.

Looking ahead, the team has set ambitious goals, including aiming to win the FAW national title once they reach the age of 16 and eventually qualifying for the UEFA Futsal Champions League.
