COLD weather warnings have been issued by concerned ambulance staff.

With severe weather predicted for Wales by the Met Office, the Welsh Ambulance Service has urged people to be cautious. Ambulance staff have found that current cold weather conditions have proved hazardous.

A spokesman for the Ambulance Service said: “With the prospect of the cold snap continuing into January we would encourage the public to only venture out if absolutely necessary. If you do need to go outside, wear sensible shoes and clothing and take extra care while driving and walking to avoid accidents."

North Wales Police has urged motorists to take precautions when driving on icy or snow covered roads. With low temperatures, motorists have been urged to be alert and drive according to the conditions. Advice issued by the police includes checking tyres, ensuring anti-freeze has been added to the radiator, making sure sufficient windscreen washer fluid is added and telling a friend or relative before a journey. Other tips include taking a spade, flask, torch and making sure mobile phones are fully charged.
