PLANNERS have backed a £6m plan to transform Parc Eirias into the new home of Welsh rugby.

Conwy councillors granted planning permission during a meeting, which was held yesterday.

Plans were put on public display at the site, during an exhibition which was held in September of last year. The sports complex will include a 2, 000 all seater stand, an indoor training centre and a gym. VIP boxes and new floodlights will also be created.

It is hoped that work on the venue will be completed by December of this year.
Parc Eirias is currently the home of Gogledd Cymru 1404.

Welsh Assembly Government and European cash will fund the development.
