REFUSE and recycling collections are said to be 'back on track' throughout the area after some households have not had a collection for several weeks due to the weather.

Residents are advised to set any recycling/refuse out for collection on their usual day this week as the council is looking to provide a normal service.

Extra services to collect grey and blue wheelie-bins which could not be emptied last week were also added.

A county council spokeswoman said: “Apart from some isolated rural locations which are still physically impossible to reach, all recycling and refuse has been collected. Crews have been working extended hours and extra resources have been drafted in to help clear the backlog.”

Cllr Eryl Williams, lead member for environment and sustainable development said: “We are very proud of our response on refuse.

“The vast majority of the public could see and understand the difficulties that we faced in the emergency, and they also appreciated the extra efforts we made in the catch-up.

“This included going down people's drives if their refuse had not been put out.

“We know this because many people have taken the time to write in and tell us.”

The Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) said councils had to consider the health and safety of their drivers, crews and and the general public.

All four Recycling Parks are open for residents who are able to get to them and the Saturday morning recycling service at Corwen went ahead.
